Veterans Outreach

WE ARE GATHERING UP A BOX TO SEND TO IRAQ. We are putting together a box to send to troops at Camp Liberty in Iraq.  Some items that they would like to receive are snacks, books, flavor packs for water, eyeglass and contact cleaners, and baby wipes. There is a collection box in the narthex.

The visit to the VA Hospital Extended Care Facility, on Saturday, 9 Aug was also a success.  We visited with and provided treats, drinks (soda/pop), and T-shirts to almost 60 Vets. Again your generosity allowed us to give 2 T-shirts to every Vet and enough treats and drinks to leave some behind. We also left a box of books and magazines for the Vets to read. Thanks for all the contributions. A special thanks to Don Karns and Jerry Coffman for assisting. Without them, I could not have pulled off the visit.  The next VA visit will be 29 November, 1:30-3:00pm. I understand this is Thanksgiving weekend, but due to scheduling, it was the first Saturday open before Christmas. Please check your calendars and help if you are available. I’ll be getting out more information in the October and November Satellites.

Thanks to all the unknown friends and members that continue to fill the plastic VA change jar in the Narthex. I counted out $50 to add to St Paul’s VA ministry account. Another great showing of generosity.

DONATE YOUR MAGAZINES to Tim Baisley and the crew of the USS Hampton. In particular, send news and sports related issues.
